Knitting Envy

I am always envious of those girls who have knitting friends. I don't think I even know anyone who really knits.

On to more important things. Last week there was a sad occurence. My budgie of around 10 years passed. I miss him. However, I am getting used to the newest member of our household, Alfie the Lovebird. Sadly, he does not know how to knit.....

I have finished my sock and have started on the mate. A sweater is in the works for knitter number 2. She is very excited about it and actually kissed the sweater in progress yesterday. How sweet. Next up in the sock world is my husband. Or knitter number 3 because I found patterns for baby socks. And since we may not have more babies in our house......

Goodies

Yesterday afternoon, as I went out to greet Brent when he got home, I made a discovery. In our jeep was a large box of yarn and a small box from a book seller. Goodies! New sock books. Knitting On The Road and Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush and Simple Socks Plain and Fancy by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. Much fun was had, and I didn't drool on my books too much. I didn't want to ruin them on the first day......

Looking at that box of yarn led me to believe that I have A LOT of knitting to do.

More pictures......

This time we will attempt some knitting pictures. The sweater is, of course, done now. The sock is also farther along than at the time of the picture. No pictures of the fast moving Anouk, though. Not yet. I mustn't push my luck with this picture uploading.

p.s. The sun is shining AGAIN. Yes, 2 days in a row.

Crochet pictures

OOOOO. Pictures. If I hold my breath, this may work out !

The Sun!!!

The sun is shining! It seems impossible, but it is. Naturally, the wind is blowing. That is actually a good thing because it is really wet here. The rivers are all high and for the most part, flooding. Sunshine and wind are great for drying clothes on the clothesline. The smell of sunshine.

I made a mistake on my sock, but I think I caught it early enough that I don't have to rip it all out. I was doing gusset decreases every row instead of every third row. I only did it a couple times. This is the part of a sock where I really hate to rip things out. Stitches get lost so easily, especially when you are using dark colors.

The cardigan is done, except for the drawstring. Brent can help me with that tonight. That means I can work on Anouk today. I really don't like to have lots of projects going because you don't work on them or you don't get much done on any one thing. Lack of progress makes me want to give up on a project. It was a real compromise when I told myself it was ok to have a sock and a larger project going at the same time. Other people call it a project to take with them, but I never go anywhere. If I do happen to go somewhere, I take the sock project with me. I don't miss opportunities to knit in public.

Just Another Rainy Day

Will the rain never end? Just another rainy, april day. There better be loads of flowers next month. Perhaps I should knit some, just in case. My mother-in-law gave me a really cool paper flower she got in Mexico. She thinks maybe I could find out how they are made.

I want to concentrate on my knitting today. I need another pair of socks soon. I have all of these Walmart socks that are literally falling apart. Last year I promised myself that I wouldn't be buying myself any more socks. Since then, I have not had time to make loads of socks. Of course, I also didn't know that the socks my father had just given me would start falling apart after a few wearings. It seemed like I had so much time to knit them.......

And if Blogger would just be nice, I would put up some pictures.

Hmmph!

Or maybe I won't be posting pictures today? Here's another try. If it doesn't work, we'll be back tomorrow........

Gloomy Tuesday

Just another gloomy day. Yay. Great for knitting, though. And working on the blog. I am posting pictures of some crocheted goodies I made for my mother in law. She loves her afghan. She went on and on about it. She claimed it was the most beautiful thing anyone had ever made for her. It was the surprise item. The doily was something I offered to make for her. I am currently knitting on the cardigan from the Ballet Twinset Annie Modesitt designed for the Spring 2004 IK. It is almost done. I am also working on the socks sighted in a previous post. In the wings waiting for the cardie to be done is Anouk from Knitty.
