The Sun!

The sun came out today for the first time in probably 2 weeks here. And Bear likes it:

He is not ashamed to wear my nice green wrap or my wonderful Noro Scarf:

I didn’t finish as many projects last week as I wanted to, but I started some gloves anyway. I really should have taken a picture of them with 5 fingers. I was feeling so good about actually finishing one this weekend, but then I held them up and thought they looked a bit freaky. Here they are with a more normal looking almost 4 fingers. I am not sure I like the pattern. The designer used a method of making the base of fingers that seems annoying to me. I tried it on 2 fingers and then went to the tried and true method I learned from the Knitters Handy Book of Patterns. Anyway, here are the glove/mitts:

It is so nice to have warm weather to send the kids out to play. There has been a lot of cabin fever like behavior around here lately.

Last night I had this horrid dream that I forgot to plant the garden. Pretty soon it will be time for me to break out the pots, seeds, and grow lights. For now, I need to decide what seeds to order, what baby birds to buy, and anticipate baby goats.

Return to Blogging

I want to thank everyone for their nice comments. We have now inherited 2 cats. That means we have 4 cats now. That is a lot of litter box changing…

The weather here has been rotten. The same dreary cold day after day after day. No sun, only an inversion held in place by a lovely high pressure system. No doubt some storm system will come along and push it out and we STILL won’t see the sun. It could be a lot worse. We’ve had these things happen with much colder temperatures. We are just in the 20’s. Anyway, I’ve some lovely pictures of our weather. Last week the fog and cold gave us a beautiful, frosty landscape:

It also gave us some really scary slick roads. Personally, I can’t wait for spring.

Since the New Year, I have a renewed interest in getting my unfinished projects done. I finished my Noro Scarf on Sunday and am hard at several other projects. I haven’t had this kind of knitting mojo in a very long time. Hopefully, finishing projects will bring on even more. Especially since I really, really need some mittens or gloves to wear. Fingerless mitts are a joke. My fingers freeze every time I wear my county fair prize winning mitts. I have yarn in my knitting basket and a pattern waiting in the wings.

And speaking of the County Fair, I have to start thinking up what to make to take to the fair this year. What do you think? Sweater? Something else?

A New Year

The last post I made was incomplete and unedited. I had started it and intended to go back to it. Normally, I might have just trashed it. I had intended to make a post before the New Year, but it was just too hard. The night I started that post, my father died quite unexpectedly. He was coming to our house and had a heart attack and died. It has been horrible.

I am ready to get back to a somewhat normal life, though. All the family leaves tomorrow and the kids go back to school. Maybe I will get to finish some projects and get my house clean again.

I did manage to finish some things for the kids for Christmas. Maybe in the next few days I can get pictures of all of them.

Happy New Year!
