Return of The Beast

This was going to be a happy-go-lucky post, until we went outside this morning. The Beast has returned. It killed a young rooster and ate it through the fence. No joke. I would have never believed that such a thing was possible. I guess we will be on the hunt again. People dashing about in the yard with guns again. In the night. Just in time for my niece from Seattle to come for a visit. I had really hoped that The Beast would stay away.

Today is the beginning of the TDF Kal. I had hoped to start with Foliage, but it turns out the needles I need for it are currently in use on my neck warmer. I’ll have to finish it before doing the hat. I am almost done, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Instead of the hat, I am starting with Evangeline, the mitts. I am using a ball of pumpkin orange Merino Style that I used for the BSU Sweater last year. I think they may have discontinued the color, but I’m not positive. So far, I love the pattern and it seems to be really quick. Well, of course it’s quick, it’s fingerless mitts, but I think you all know what I mean. I could end up making a lot more of these if they continue being as enjoyable as they have been this afternoon.

I want to thank everyone for the nice birthday wishes! This year’s birthday was really fun even though I didn’t get to have a family outing. Last year we drove around the mountains on my birthday. This year I hung out with my girls.

I don’t know if I shared my bad sourdough starter experience here. I’ve had a starter going since early this spring and it was just starting to get really, really good. And that’s when I found mold in the jar. I’ve had to start all over again. I made the first loaf with it on Friday. When it gets a couple months old, I am going to save a cup of it in the refrigerator. I don’t want to have to start from scratch all over again.

Sorry to hear about your young rooster. Sadly it's one of the downsides of living in nature but I'm sure the beasts are getting smarter!

Hope you enjoy the TdeF KAL. I am wrestling with lace so can't say I am enjoying myself quite yet on the knitting front but it's a fun group to be involved in isn't it?

Oh, sorry about the return or the beast and the mold in your starter. I didn't think sourdough starters molded for some reason.

I have been working on toe up socks, and the short row heel has been tormenting me, so I keep ripping them out. The other project I keep frogging is the Milan Jacket I am working on - gauge was off, and then didn't like my picked up stitches, etc. Both have been learning projects.
That dastardly beast!! Good luck with your T D F kal project, mine hasn't done me in, YET:)
