Sewing At Last
For the past week, I have been going to start running every morning. I intended to start on Monday, but I was too tired and opted to stay in bed. Later in the week I was downright depressed and wondering if getting goats was a huge mistake. (the milk was tasting horrible and it turns out one of them has mastitis) Then I snapped out of it and decided to quit being a wuss. So yesterday morning I started running. I run a mile from home and the mile back. Yesterday I think I probably ran a mile and a half of it. This morning, we (Maggie and I) ran the whole 2 miles! And we even got out of a trot and into a real run for part of it. I do not run on our driveway. Why punish myself? No one in their right mind would want to run UP our driveway. The faster we go, the better Maggie likes it. It turns out that I will probably never have to worry about her getting in front of a car. She runs as far off the road as she can get when we meet one.
Yesterday and today, I made a skirt. I could have done it all yesterday, but I decided to spend it playing in the kitchen. I bought the fabric a couple years ago thinking it would make a great skirt:
I’ve already worn it and pronounce it perfect. I used the skirt pattern from Sew U by Wendy Mullins. Instead of using a zipper and darts, I just made a casing and put in some elastic. I love this pattern. I made another one with it last December.
Here is Maggie at her very best:
Sound asleep. She loves laying there in front of the kitchen sink where a register blows out nice, cold, air.
