Some Unfinished Objects

Happy New Year all! It seems like everyone makes up a list of things they have knit in the past year. I don’t think I will. How about a list of things I would like to do in the coming year?

1. Become better spinner
2. Sew better
3. Knit a pair of socks every month
4. Learn 5 new knitting techniques
5. Drink green tea every day

Here are some things I really think that I will knit this year. A sweater for my aunt, a sweater for my husband, 12 pairs of socks (ok, this could really be pushing it!), a sweater for me, and I think we all know I will knit some sweaters for the kids. This is going to be the year I go back to knitting with worsted weight yarns. Last year was the year of fingering weight yarn.

Here is a list of what I have on the needles now. Generally, I keep to 2 items, but things happened and I have a bit of cleaning up to do.

2 pairs of socks (see picture above)
A window covering of my own design (see pic. above)
Boo from Knitty (see above, though there really isn't much to see)
Some eyes and noses for 2 teddy bears
Neck of a sweater that I am altering so it doesn’t choke my husband. (and maybe then he’ll wear it)

Yes, that is ALL I have on the needles. I know there are loads of people out there who start projects and don’t finish them all the time. I don’t want to be the little old lady who passes away with a room full of unused yarn and ufo’s. I try to finish my projects or rip ‘em and send the yarn back to the stash.

Today was the day of undecorating the house. Funny, it all comes down and goes back in the boxes so much faster. It takes me hours to decorate the house, but about 30 minutes to get it all down, packed up and put away. Well, maybe 45.

I like your idea of knitting goals for the new year. I especially like the idea of a pair of socks a month. I've made that my goal for 2007, too. If I make more than that, then I'm treating myself to some luscious sock yarn!
Awww, those socks are so cute! I should be doing socks at a fast slip as well since I have so much darn sock yarn!!!
